Runic Keyboard (for PC)
Designed by Sveinn Ullarson, this digital keyboard is easy to download and install onto any Windows PC. (Sorry Mac/Linux users, we might manage to make one of these for you someday, but at the moment this is all we’ve got.)
The system was designed for Ullarson’s own “New Futhork” (hence the arrangements) but it can easily be used to type a number of different rune sets.
New Fuþork: (᛬ ᚠᚢᚦᚮᚱᚴ ᛬ ᚼᚾᛁᛆᛋ ᛬ ᛏᛒᛘᛚᛦ ᛬ ᛕᛂᚹᛨᚯ ᛬)
Younger Fuþark: (᛬ ᚠᚢᚦᚬᚱᚴ ᛬ ᚼᚾᛁᛅᛋ ᛬ ᛏᛒᛘᛚᛦ ᛬)
Elder Fuþark: (᛬ ᚠᚢᚦᚨᚱᚲᚷᚹ ᛬ ᚺᚾᛁᛃᛇᛈᛉᛊ ᛬ ᛏᛒᛖᛗᛚᛜᛞᛟ ᛬)
Along with Medieval and Anglo-Saxon runes!
Installation (WINDOWS PC ONLY)
Once you’ve downloaded the file to your PC, just unzip it, open it up and click on the ‘setup’ application.
Since this keyboard is a homebrewed creation, your computer may give you warnings about an unrecognized publisher. This is nothing to worry about, this is just your computer’s way of saying “Hey, are you sure you trust this file, because Microsoft didn’t make this.”
And that’s it. Just select your language preference and you’re ready to rock! Just use whatever key-bind your computer has set up to flip between keyboards and you’ll be good to go. (On Windows 10 machines, that’s WINDOWSKEY+SPACE. Older versions might use ALT+SHIFT.)
Enjoy!
